Description

Class Size: 5-10

Description: Still life offers excellent opportunities for observing the surprising nature of light and the complexity of color. Through a series of exercises (short and long still life paintings) students will hone their perceptual skills and learn to translate observed color into paint. We will also discuss great still life painters from the past as well as contemporary painters. The focus however is seeing color in a new and deeper way through the experience of still life painting.

Amy Weiskopf studied at Washington University in St. Louis and Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome where she stayed and studied European painting for 9 years. She has shown her still lifes extensively in the USA for over 30 years. She is in numerous private and public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

She is represented by Hirschl and Adler Modern in NYC and the Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans.
