Instructor: Rebecca Madura / 6 weeks / Jun 13 - Jul 25 (No class July 4) / Thursday / 6:00PM - 9:00PM
Class Size: 5-10
Description: In this workshop we will focus on painting from observation, memory, imagination, and photographic reference both figuratively and abstractly. We will work from traditional subject matter in a variety of ways to explore the language of painting to create original compositions. Looking to the work of both historical and contemporary master painters, we will explore how the formal concepts of representational and abstract painting can be synthesized in one’s own painting practice. We will explore methods and conceptual approaches to effectively compose a painting from multiple sources and ideas, while considering the formal concepts of painting, including spatial relationships, form, light/value, and color.
Prerequisites: Participants may work in either oil or acrylic according to preference and comfort with the media. It is recommended that student have some painting experience in either oils or acrylics.

Lava), rags or good quality paper towels (I like the blue automotive towels), baby oil or safflower oil (clean up) NOTE: solvents (gamsol, turpentine, turpenoid etc…) are not necessary!
