Description: Discover the intricacies of classical portrait drawing with Jonathan Hodge. Learn how to create the illusion of three-dimensional form while capturing the likeness of a sitter. We will cover proportion, value, anatomy, and structure while working from a live model. Drawing from life is one of the most fulfilling and fundamental practices for artistic development. There will be a live demo, personalized critiques, and Q&A to help students hone their technical skills.
Prerequisites: Some drawing experience is suggested but not required.
Supplies
- 18” x 24” Strathmore 500 Series Sketchpad
- 6B Graphite Pencils (Any Brand)
- Kneaded Eraser
- Measuring Stick (shish kebab skewer is fine)
- X-Acto Knife for sharpening

- Plumb Line (Appx 3’ String with weight attached to one end)
