The Executive Director of the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, Andrew Rodgers, is an arts administrator, arts educator, and artist. He sits on the New Orleans Arts Council and is a passionate champion of the arts who has worked with arts institutions throughout the Gulf Coast to improve the lives of people through the arts. Andrew is excited to be leading the Academy through a time of development and growth.

As a youth Andrew attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts summer drawing camp and learned his foundations in drawing working in the famous cast room under the eaves of the Frank Furness designed PAFA main building. Through his studies in high school, he carried a passion for the arts supported by his father and mother who are both artists exploring painting and ceramics, respectively. Andrew holds a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Painting and Art History and an MFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Before living in New Orleans and working at Isidore Newman School as the Dean of the Arts, Andrew was the Chair of Arts and Theology at Saint Thomas More School in Oakdale, Connecticut. Andrew’s wife Tara works in jewelry design and his daughter is an enthusiastic young dancer. A new member of the household, Aidan was recently welcomed to the family and his artistry at the moment consists of staying up late and being cute.
