Hurricane Ida Update

Published by Andrew Rodgers on Sep 2nd 2021

To our Academy Fall Session Community,

I hope you are all staying safe during these difficult times for our city. Hurricane Ida was a sobering reminder of our city’s fragility in the face of nature, but also of its strength. I have been impressed by the outpouring of support and intent to rebuild that has already begun throughout New Orleans. Here at the Academy work is underway on damage that was sustained during the storm. With a wonderful contractor and support staff we are well poised to build back better than ever.

Unfortunately, due to the damage and local infrastructure loss from to the storm we will need to postpone our opening a few weeks. As we learn more from the city about electricity restoration and our contractor on the timeline of repairs, we will be in touch with specific new dates for our Fall Session and the Faculty Exhibition.

Our goal is to honor the length of all Fall session classes, this will likely mean some classes will run longer into the winter season

We appreciate your patience with us as we build back stronger. I will be in touch soon to confirm our fall opening dates. In the meantime I hope that you all stay safe and healthy - we will all return soon to the Academy’s studios to create a better tomorrow together.
