Description: “Verre églomisé”, the term refers to an art form in which precious metal leaf is applied to the reverse side of glass, etched, and backed with paint and varnish.

Day One: (9:00AM-4:00PM*)
-Brief history of verre eglomise
-Slide show of some of Lisa Stimpson's projects/installations
-Gilding demonstration
-Students choose (or will have chosen) pattern for their plate
-Pattern transferred onto pre-gilded plate
-Pattern etched, background cleaned, and pattern distressed
-Pattern backed with paint

Day Two: (9:00AM-1:00PM*)
-Gilding lesson…students would gild the background of their plates. (Anilane-dyed silver leaf would be used.)

Day Three: (9:00AM-1:00PM*)
-Back painting of plates
-Students may come in to apply coats of varnish at their leisure (or take home to varnish).

Supplies: Tuition covers all supplies

*End time of workshop estimated. Workshop will go as late as needed, up until 5:00PM.
