In this four-session workshop, I will teach you the intricacies of the beautiful copperplate hand, focusing on consistent size, shape, slant and spacing of the letterforms and layout design as you create your own artwork. The course will focus on individually guided practice and will include instructor demonstrations and viewing of many samples of calligraphic art. All levels of students are welcome to join this class, including those just beginning their study of calligraphy.

Calligraphy is the art of beautiful handwriting.  The word derives from the ancient Greek: kallos meaning "beauty" and graphẽ "writing".  It is the art of giving form to letters in an expressive, harmonious, and skillful manner.

Prerequisite: None

Supplies: Each student will be charged a $35 fee for the calligraphy supply kit which will include: a bottle of ink, an oblique pen holder and nibs, and an 11"x17” practice pad.
