This 6 week beginners course will provide a foundation to the art of ceramics using both hand building and wheel throwing lessons. Demonstrations at the beginning of class will focus on techniques such as soft slab construction, and centering clay on the potters wheel. We will learn basic surface decoration techniques to adorn our work, and will finish our works with glaze. Join us in a safe supportive environment while learning to express ourselves through clay. At the end of this course, students will have a basic understanding of ceramic processes and will take home finished glazed ceramics. This class is for beginners with no ceramics experience or those looking for a ceramics refresher course.
Supplies: Bring an apron and a notebook and pen/pencil. All other tools and materials will be provided. Tuition includes a $50 fee for materials, i.e., clay, tools, and glazes
- Nicholls, Reid
- Skill Level:
This was a really good class. There were students who had varied degrees of experience, from none(me) to an experienced wheel thrower, and everything in between. Reid met every person where they were and let them move at their own pace. He was patient and a good teacher.
