Description:

This class is an introduction to various techniques used in watercolor. The course will begin with an introduction to basic watercolor techniques. Working from direct observation, we will explore a range of approaches to using watercolor. The class will cover color mixing, methods of creating visual texture, watercolor washes and working with the unique qualities of this transparent media.

Prerequisites: None

Supplies

  • Brushes:
    • No. 12 round
    • No. 3 script
    • 1 inch flat
    • You can bring additional brushes you have however any brushes which have been used for oil painting should not be used for watercolor.
  • Paints-Windsor and Newton Cotman watercolor set of 20 tubes
  • Palette
  • Paper 140-pound cold pressed watercolor block 10 X 14 inches
  • Sponge
  • Paper towels
  • Small sketch pad
  • Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Painter’s tape
  • 2 jars
