An introduction to the modeling of the figure using clay. The geometry of the figure, its anatomy and their relation to gravity are studied. Techniques of proportion, dynamics and armature construction are taught. Composition, proportion, form, volume, weight, and surface modeling are emphasized. The student works toward a more personal expression through the mastery of fundamentals.
This class is great for both the beginning and the experienced art student. The instructor uses a classical, hands-on approach and the students work from a live model. No art experience is necessary for this class. You will work in clay and will be able to take home your very own fired sculpture(s) at the end of the course.
