Class Size: 5-10
Prerequisites: Beginning Watercolor or equivalent
This class focuses on giving students a deeper understanding of the medium through working from still life setups, reference photographs and painting in a series. It will include discussions on:
- watercolor materials
- color mixing and paint properties specific to watercolors
- brush strokes and basic washes (flat wash, graded wash, wet into wet wash, etc) and painting methods in watercolor (direct, wet into wet, dry brush and glazing)
- composition and design
Classes will include instructor demonstrations and exercises on a variety of subjects. There will also be weekly homework assignments that will be discussed at the beginning of each class.
Supplies:
- Robert Wood palette or equivalent
- Selection of brushes including a variety of rounds (for example 6, 8, 10), a mop brush, 1' and 2’ flat wash brushes
