Instructor: Patti Adams / 7 Weeks / June 6 - Aug 1 (No class on July 4th and July 18th) / Monday / 9:00AM-12:00PM
Class Size: 5-8
Prerequisites: Beginning Calligraphy or equivalent
Description:
In this course you will be introduced to two beautiful elements of personal expression - calligraphy and gilding with gold leaf. For the first few weeks, we will focus on the copperplate hand, be introduced to the art of copperplate flourishing and receive invaluable guidance in their practice. We will cover correct body posture, position and placement of the pen and the use of the proper tools of the craft.
During the second few weeks, you’ll learn a variety of techniques for gold leaf gilding. You will learn how to gild on hot press watercolor paper, gessoboard and vellum, using sheets of genuine gold leaf and 23K patent gold leaf (or transfer gold), as we explore the mysteries of the ancient art of gilding.
Rather than have you purchase a lot of expensive supplies and equipment, with the help of a $75 supply fee, ALL the gold leaf, sizes, and gilding papers will be provided to you. I will also have a variety of burnishers, embossing tools and ruling pens for you to try.
**PLEASE BRING CASH/PERSONAL CHECK THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS FOR $75 SUPPLY FEE**
