Class Size: 5-10

Gouache has existed in various forms for centuries, yet continues to be popular with both artists and illustrators because of its versatility and ease of use. Gouache may be used with the techniques of watercolor or of oil, or in combination of both and with unique techniques such as black ink wash-off.

Gaining confidence with the use of gouache will be an initial goal. There will be demonstrations and handouts, while practical experience will be an excellent teacher. Students will practice with still lifes, landscapes, and master copies, as well as more illustrative projects including fantasy and children's book illustrations.

This class is appropriate for both beginning painting students and continuing students of gouache.
