Goal: Abstract art is a medium that allows artists to communicate their thoughts and feelings through shapes and colors. During World War 2, artists used this art style to reflect on the social standings of America. This period was called the Abstract Expressionist period. The Abstract Expressionist period is recognized for its gestural mark making and representation of spontaneity. In this class we will learn about the vibrant artists of this time period. While learning
about the art groups in this period, each student will choose their favorite art making style and develop works based on this. The class’ main medium will be painting but youth artists will be able to use textile and mixed media as well.
Supplies: All supplies will be provided
Parents, once you register for a Youth Class, we will email you a form to complete with additional information about your child. Please keep an eye out for this email 1-3 days after registering.
