This beginners course will provide a foundation to the art of throwing on a potter’s wheel. Students will learn how to manipulate clay on the wheel to create functional, unique and personal pieces such as cups, bowls and more! We will learn ceramics techniques while expressing ourselves through clay. Demonstrations will be given at the beginning of each class, and will focus on learning the basics of centering, lifting and shaping methods, as well as decorative surface treatments and glazing. After demonstrations students will practice that day’s lesson while Sarah offers one-on-one feedback to each student. Sarah takes a hands on approach to teaching, guiding students towards the most successful outcomes. This class is for students with limited or no wheel experience, all are welcome to join the fun and get their hands dirty!
Supplies: Tuition includes a $75 fee for materials, i.e., clay, tools, and glazes
