Instructor: Sarah House / 13 Weeks / Oct 6-Dec 15 & Jan 5-19 (No Class Nov 24) / Wednesday / 6:00PM-9:00PM
Class Size: 5-6

This 13 week course is for students who have taken Intro to Wheel Throwing or Beginning Ceramics at the Academy of Fine Arts, and are able to center clay on the potter’s wheel and pull a cylinder. This course will allow students to fine tune there throwing skills, work with more clay and try their hand at more advanced forms like pitchers, and lidded vessels.
Demonstrations will include tall cylinders, large bowls, plates, throwing off the hump, as well as surface decoration techniques. We will discuss mishima and sgraffito as well as slip trailing to adorn our works. Each class will begin with a new demonstration followed by work time. During work time Sarah will provide one on one feedback to each student. Come get your hands dirty in a safe and supportive environment!

Supplies: Apron, sketchbook/notebook and pen/pencil, chamois (AKA shammie). Tuition includes a $75 fee for materials, i.e., clay, tools, and glazes

Prerequisites: Taken Introduction to Wheel Throwing and/or Beginning Ceramics at NOAFA
