Instructor: Patti Adams / 12 Weeks / Oct 6 - Jan 12 (No class Nov 24, Dec 22 & 29) / Wednesday / 6:00PM-9:00PM
Class Size: 5-10

Prerequisites: Beginning Watercolor or equivalent

This class focuses on giving students a deeper understanding of the medium through working from still life setups, reference photographs and painting in a series. It will include discussions on:

  • watercolor materials
  • color mixing and paint properties specific to watercolors
  • brush strokes and basic washes (flat wash, graded wash, wet into wet wash, etc) and painting methods in watercolor (direct, wet into wet, dry brush and glazing)
  • composition and design

Classes will include instructor demonstrations and exercises on a variety of subjects. There will also be weekly homework assignments that will be discussed at the beginning of each class.

Supplies:

  • Robert Wood palette or equivalent
  • Selection of brushes including a variety of rounds (for example 6, 8, 10), a mop brush, 1' and 2’ flat wash brushes
  • Suggested Paints (Winsor-Newton and or Daniel Smith recommended):
